2022 Policies:
The Fabulous Las Vegas Scribes welcomes everyone interested in calligraphy and related paper arts. Our mission is to foster an atmosphere of creativity, support, sharing, and inspiration for all members.
1. DUES are $40 per member for a year. Dues include all e-mails, monthly meetings, job referrals and workshops (first come-first served as spaces are limited). Memberships are non-transferrable. The Society’s year is from January 1 through December 31 and dues are not pro-rated.
2. CHILDREN 12 years and over are welcome to join the Society if they demonstrate an interest in calligraphy. Children will pay yearly dues and have to be accompanied to meetings and workshops by a dues-paying adult member.
3. GUESTS are welcome to attend the first meeting for free. Any subsequent meetings a guest wants to attend will be as a dues-paying member.
4. CLASSES may be offered through the Society several times a year and are generally scheduled for a half day. They are open to the public, seats are limited and your seat is reserved when the registration and fee is received from you. You do not have to be a member to take a class. In addition to classes, our monthly meetings are structured so members can work with other members on a variety of paper and calligraphy techniques.
5. WORKSHOPS are usually one or two-day sessions and are offered by local and out-of-state instructors. Workshops can be scheduled as time and interests allow. Workshops are open to members only on a first-come, first-served basis and seats will be reserved when full payment for the class is received. If someone who is not a member wants to take a workshop, that person will have to join and pay member dues (see above) as well as the class fee. A waiting list will be compiled if the class is full. Refunds will be made only if the instructor cancels the class or if a reserved space can be filled from the waiting list for the workshop. Seats are limited for workshops.
6. CORRESPONDENCE is conducted electronically to save the cost of postage. A Post Office Box is maintained for incoming mail. Arrangements can be made if a member does not have internet access.
7. JOB REFERRALS will be forwarded to members only.
8. Members who demonstrate a skill or technique at a meeting will not be compensated for their time or materials provided. If a member teaches a class related to calligraphy or a paper art and wants to present their class to the Society, the class can be scheduled as a workshop.
