September's meeting included a demonstration by Christa Bushousen on how to make threaded patterns. We have a Card Project going with our members to make cards for residents in a local nursing home who never get cards or visitors. One of our members used this technique to make her cards and they are stunning. Now we all know how to make them. Design from "Embroidery Card Patterns" by Christa Bushousen. Used with permission. Then we tried our hand at Akim (no pun intended!), a hand with some exaggerated letters. This turned out best written with a ball point pen and can make an interesting envelope to send to someone special. Another great meeting!!

This is just a little late - the September meeting is in a week and a half! But in August, we had so much fun. The meeting topics were envelopes and liners and the hand of the month was Neuland. Cindy started by pulling out stacks of pages torn from magazines with pretty pictures on them. She handed out envelopes and a liner pattern. She demonstrated some tricks of putting the patterns on the pictures to get the best part of the picture for the liner. We cut liners out, inserted them into envelopes and voila! Custom envelopes for sending cards, wedding invitations, or letters to special people. Then she showed us an Envelope Punch Board to make envelopes out of any paper. And one of our members brought her envelope liner template from The Paper Source - so we made liners for their envelopes. We had so much fun with paper, we didn't do anything with ink. Next month is going to be a lot of fun again - it's amazing how talented our members are and how eager everyone is to share!
