This weekend we spent two days making a book to fit into a box; two days, two different boxes, two different books. Check out the photos. It was GREAT!!

Our Program Chairman, Pat, brought gold and other metal leaf to our meeting along with four different kinds of adhesives for us to try out to see which worked best for us. One member brought a sticky ink (middle photo) used to adhere leaf and wrote "Linda" with a flourish (right photo). A glue pen was also used for the silver design in the right photo.
Pat gave us each a sheet with a quote from Shakespeare and two beautiful initials to gild. What a great time! So many of us wanted to learn how to do this and Pat is an excellent instructor. She provided us with some links to websites that also addressed illumination. Now I think practice would make perfect in this case, but our first attempts were great. Next month we are going to gild initials on flat rocks - more fun! The Fabulous Las Vegas Scribes have our first exhibit ever! This exhibit tours the Las Vegas area to three libraries. It opens at The Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive, Las Vegas on April 21 and runs to June 16. Then it moves to two other libraries. We will post it's latest location on this blog. It is free and open to the public during library hours and hangs in the Gallery on the first floor. Come check it out!!
